What I have learnt so far

That it is easier to seek when we have overbearing problems. There is a sense of urgency and we hold on to each daimoku like precious breath. Seemingly impossible situations call out our inner most resolves of courage and strength. When logic and reason and hard work can't solve it for us... what else do we have but our holy shrines?

Buddhism is winning, 100%, without compromises. Then why don't we win? Because we fail to practise correctly. Our complacence and doubts keep pulling us away from achieving the greatest victories. I can turn poison into medicine but I have to first believe without a doubt.
Action based on this faith is what wins.

The point is to be happy now, to appreciate our lives now - at this moment - if we keep postponing our happiness until everything is resolved, are we not fooling ourselves? We are trying to believe that there is some kind of a heaven waiting for us if only we can achieve this or that. Is that true? Will we have no more overwhelming problems after this one?

If, however, we practise correctly and resolve to appreciate our lives and become absolutely happy, we can tap into unlimited reserves of wisdom, courage, compassion and all problems will appear that much smaller... and we will win every time. Being in a state of depression, anger or fear will never allow us to win.

Our daimoku has to be focused and never distracted by our own strategies or solutions. We resolve to solve the problem through our faith. Daimoku is a declaration of our vows, an announcement to the Universe that we have made a determination and will not be defeated.

I like to incorporate Zange in my daily practice - because Appreciation and Apology are critical to making us happy and increasing good fortune. I appreciate my life as it is now and I want to see my own true nature as a Buddha. I am a Buddha and I appreciate it.

Deep appreciation for our own Buddha nature is a way of calling it forth and raising our life conditions.

Deep apology is a way of lessening bad karma created by us whether wilfuly or not.

It is also critical to never do "onshitsu" i.e. hold grudges against our own family members. Instead, pray for their health and well being. Remember we chose our families and life partners.

We are responsible for everything we feel, say and do.
